CASTRIL - ACTIVITIES FOR EVERYONE

Sorry - missing image

Corpus Christi is part of the Catholic calendar whereby Christ becomes flesh.

The procession takes place in Castril on the first Sunday after Corpus Christi which is the first Thursday after Trinity Sunday. After a mass which lasts approximately two hours, the congregation parade around Castril, stopping at two makeshift altars on the way. Prayers and encantations take place before the congregation repair to a bar for refreshments.

Many visitors come to the town for these festivals, many of whom are family who moved away some decades ago in search of work to places such as Alicante, Barcelona, France and Germany. They bring their young ones to see Grandma and the extended family, or just to see the old home town again.
